Overview

A complete time-tracking platform: a desktop app that keeps working offline, an installable web app, and the REST API behind both. It covers the whole loop, from the timer to the invoice.

What it is

Small teams usually track hours in one tool, plan in another and invoice in a third. ClockiFree puts the whole loop in one place: track the time, approve it, see whether a project is on budget, and turn the hours into an invoice.

It runs as a Windows desktop app, an installable web app and a REST API that other systems can use. Any company can host it on its own server.

How it works

The three apps share one TypeScript package with the API client, the data types, the formatters and the design tokens. A change to a model shows up in the web app and the desktop app at the same time, and the compiler catches anything that drifts.

  • API: Laravel 12 with token (Sanctum) or X-Api-Key authentication. Each workspace is isolated at the query level and every permission is checked on the server.
  • Web: React 19, Vite and Tailwind v4, installable as a PWA.
  • Desktop: Electron with a tray icon, a mini-timer, pomodoro and an auto-tracker. When the connection drops, entries go into a local queue and sync once it is back.
  • Updates: the desktop app checks its own server every few hours, downloads new versions in the background and installs them with one click. Downloads are differential.

What a team gets

  • Timer, manual entries, calendar and weekly timesheet, with pinned entries, custom fields and locked dates.
  • Workspaces with five roles, groups and email invitations.
  • Projects with clients, tasks, rates and budgets, with alerts before a project goes over.
  • Summary, detailed, weekly and attendance reports. Export to CSV, Excel or PDF, share by link or email them on a schedule.
  • Weekly or monthly timesheet approvals, time-off policies and balances, and scheduling with capacity per person.
  • Expenses with receipts, and invoices with VAT and withholding tax, PDF output and payment tracking.
  • A kiosk mode to clock in with a PIN, plus signed webhooks, API keys and an audit log.

Quality

Feature tests cover the money paths (rates, rounding, invoices), permissions per role and isolation between workspaces. Both front-ends are type-checked on every change.

The code is public under the MIT licence, with a demo seed that fills every module so it can be explored right after installing.
